Military Wives – ★★★✩✩ | Film Review

As much a “paint by numbers” film as I expected from this having seen the trailer. It was Brassed Off meets the mildly funny parts of Full Monty.

When Kristin Scott Thomas’ Kate decides to get more involved in the day to day lives of the military Wives living on the base, she rubs Sharon Horgan’s Lisa up the wrong way.

When the group decide that singing is the thing they need to bring them all together, they put together a choir, formed from the women and not particularly well organised but their strength of character and determination gets them through.

As expected, there’s some tragedy in the story along the way and ultimately some kind of triumph in their story too.

I was moved by it, and thought it was a well told, if predictable affair.
